Real Solutions: More buses, more often

Bridget Vallence MP, Liberal Member for Evelyn, has welcomed news that a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will deliver at least 45 new or expanded bus services across the state.
“Across Lilydale, Mooroolbark, Mt Evelyn and the Yarra Valley, locals are forced to use costly alternatives to get around as bus routes are basically non-existent or out-of-date,” Bridget Vallence MP said.
“Only a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government has real solutions to ensure that will change - and the best part is, travel will be just $2 all day, every day.”
As part of the Liberals and Nationals’ strong Long-Term Economic Plan, this $160 million package will see improved services in Lilydale and surrounding communities, with the following services to benefit:
Undertake a whole of network review for the Lilydale area to introduce minimum service levels across the network (30-minute weekday frequency and 6 am to 10 pm span of operating hours) and demand-responsive public transport services to meet the needs of those sections of the community that cannot be reached with standard buses.
Bridget Vallence MP said “this follows our commitments to kick-start the scoping works for the Lilydale to Mooroolbark rail duplication and deliver $2 flat fares for public transport and making it more accessible and affordable for all Victorians to travel around our state. Our lower public transport fares will save Victorian families around $3500 per year.”
“By extending and introducing services into areas that Labor has neglected, this investment will better connect all Victorians, allowing them to get where they need to go, faster, cheaper and more efficiently.”
