Students at Chirnside Park Primary School will finally get the protection they need from the weather with brand new overhead court covers under a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government.

Chirnside Park Primary School has around 350 students yet has no outdoor covered areas for sports and recreational activities, assemblies, or concerts. This has severely limited the outdoor learning opportunities for this growing school, especially during summer and winter months.

Liberal Member for Evelyn, Bridget Vallence, said she was excited to announce a much-needed $400,000 investment to construct new overhead court covers at Chirnside Park Primary School.

“I’ve listened to the Chirnside Park Primary school community, including the staff, parents and students about how important this project is to enable more opportunities for outdoor learning, all-school assemblies, sports and recreational activities.”

“The school recently applied for funding from the Andrews Labor Government but was denied despite meeting all criteria. By investing in outdoor court covers at Chirnside Park Primary School, students and staff will get the shelter and protection they need, rain, hail, or shine.”

Liberal Member for Warrandyte, Ryan Smith, said he was thrilled to be helping enhance outdoor learning experiences for the students.

“I’m committed to delivering a covered outdoor learning area for Chirnside Park Primary School children to improve their learning environment.”

“This $400,000 funding commitment for Chirnside Park Primary School is all part of the Liberals and Nationals’ plan to ensure our local schools and children get the educational facilities they deserve.”
