Poor performance on Lilydale line again
Thursday, 1 August 2019
The Andrews Labor Government failed to achieve acceptable performance targets on the Belgrave line every month over the past 12 months (July 2018 – June 2019) according to the PTV Monthly Performance Reports.
The most recent month for which figures are available – June 2019 – was the second worst month on the Belgrave line over the last 12 months, with 14.4% of trains failing to arrive on time.
June 2019 was also the second worst month for punctuality on the Lilydale line over the last 12 months, with 12.6% of trains failing to arrive on time. The Lilydale line has also failed to meet acceptable punctuality targets for 9 out of the last 12 months.
The Lilydale line has the dubious honour of having the highest number of cancelled, short trips, station skips and bypasses – year to date – across the whole metro system (January 2019 – June 2019 inclusive).
Lilydale line commuters have seen 1620 services not delivered as scheduled - due to unscheduled cancellations, short trips, stations skips or bypasses, since January 2019.
Comments attributable to the Shadow Minister for Public Transport (Metropolitan), David Davis:
“Since the Liberal Nationals left office, performance on the Belgrave line has plunged 8.3 percentage points and on the Lilydale line by 7 percentage points.
“Under Daniel Andrews – performance is now shocking.”
“Commuters deserve better than the delay and cancellation prone service that Labor is providing.”
Comments attributable to the Member for Evelyn, Bridget Vallence:
“The Lilydale line has the highest number of train cancellations, short trips, station skips and bypasses of any line on the metro network and it’s just another example that Daniel Andrews and Labor doesn’t care about the outer east.”
