A Liberal Nationals Government will provide $1,000,000 to cover up to six netball courts at Pinks Reserve Regional Netball Facility, home of the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association. This amount is on top of the $1 million already raised locally by the Association.
The Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association is the largest netball association in the outer east of
Melbourne, with over 2,500 registered members, and 250 teams from 23 suburban and country clubs.
Members come from all across the Yarra Ranges including Chirnside Park, Mooroolbark, Lilydale, Kilsyth,
Montrose, Mt Evelyn, Seville, Wandin, Woori Yallock, Launching Place, Warburton, Coldstream, Healesville, Yarra Glen, Dixons Creek, Toolangi, Wonga Park, Croydon Hills, Croydon, Warranwood, Ringwood, Heathmont, Bayswater, Boronia, and The Basin. All competition games are played at Pinks Reserve in Kilsyth.
Netball is the number one female team sport in this region. As the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association has close to 100 per cent female membership, it is a major contributor to female sport and participation in our community. With year round competition and an intense schedule, the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association is seeking to construct permanent court covers to provide all-weather netball for its members, so that players can avoid heat stroke on hot days, and can still play when it is raining or hailing.
The impact of these much-needed upgrades will be felt right across the communities of the outer east and the Yarra Valley; members living in the Monbulk, Croydon and Evelyn electorates will benefit.
