The Liberal Nationals will improve netball facilities at Pinks Reserve

A Liberal Nationals Government will provide $1,000,000 to cover up to six netball courts at Pinks Reserve Regional Netball Facility, home of the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association. This amount is on top of the $1 million already raised locally by the Association.

The Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association is the largest netball association in the outer east of
Melbourne, with over 2,500 registered members, and 250 teams from 23 suburban and country clubs.
Members come from all across the Yarra Ranges including Chirnside Park, Mooroolbark, Lilydale, Kilsyth,
Montrose, Mt Evelyn, Seville, Wandin, Woori Yallock, Launching Place, Warburton, Coldstream, Healesville, Yarra Glen, Dixons Creek, Toolangi, Wonga Park, Croydon Hills, Croydon, Warranwood, Ringwood, Heathmont, Bayswater, Boronia, and The Basin. All competition games are played at Pinks Reserve in Kilsyth.

Netball is the number one female team sport in this region. As the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association has close to 100 per cent female membership, it is a major contributor to female sport and participation in our community. With year round competition and an intense schedule, the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association is seeking to construct permanent court covers to provide all-weather netball for its members, so that players can avoid heat stroke on hot days, and can still play when it is raining or hailing.

The impact of these much-needed upgrades will be felt right across the communities of the outer east and the Yarra Valley; members living in the Monbulk, Croydon and Evelyn electorates will benefit.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Sport, Danny O’Brien:
“The Liberal Nationals support female participation in sport, and being able to improve and expand facilities at Pinks Reserve ensures that women and girls across the outer east of Melbourne and the
Yarra Valley can continue their enjoyment of netball.

John Schurink, Bridget Vallence and David Hodgett are all strong advocates for their communities, and have being doing extensive work with the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association to secure this
funding commitment.”

Comments attributable to the Liberal Candidate for Monbulk, John Schurink:
“It is imperative that we support women in sport and a Liberal National Government will give the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association and the local community the funding they deserve.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Member for Croydon, David Hodgett:
“I am a strong supporter and advocate of our local sports clubs and the many benefits they provide our  community. This funding is a huge win for local netball players with an all-weather venue that will  attract and expand the competition across Victoria.”

Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Evelyn, Bridget Vallence:

“Pinks Reserve is the heart of the netball community in the outer east and the Yarra Valley. I am
delighted to support the Lillydale & Yarra Valley Netball Association, which has had significant growth in junior and senior female participation, with an exciting contribution toward all-weather court covers that will enable players to compete rain, hail or shine in the sport they love
