An elected Liberal Nationals Government will provide $5 million towards upgrading the Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School, providing students and staff with an improved and modern education facility.
This announcement will benefit the 124 currently enrolled students with disabilities and special needs, their families, and the teachers who have been working in deteriorating conditions while trying to improve the learning outcomes of the children.
This funding will provide decent classrooms and amenities, replacing the old portable classrooms that are well past their use by date, with asbestos, rotting beams and flooring that makes the school difficult to heat and cool.
Only the Liberals Nationals will back Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School, so that children will be able to get the education they deserve in newly upgraded facilities, as well as developing their skills and talents for the future.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:
“The Liberal Nationals understand how important this project is and we will help turn it from a wish to a reality for the Yarra Ranges school community by investing the funds needed.
Daniel Andrews and Labor have failed to deliver a vital education service that families in this region need and deserve. Only the Liberal Nationals will make sure these upgrades happen.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Evelyn, Bridget Vallence:
“For too long the Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School has been ignored and left without sufficient funding by James Merlino and the Labor Government. We have listened to the school community, and I’m thrilled that the children and teachers will finally receive the upgraded facilities they so desperately need.
The Liberal Nationals are committed to redeveloping the Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School to give local students a modern and safe environment where they can pursue a quality education.”
