If elected, a Matthew Guy Government will contribute $20,000 towards the upgrade of much-needed facilities at Lilydale Football Club.
Lilydale Football Club requires new coaches and player interchange boxes as the current shelter is inadequate and does not provide any weather protection that is large enough for the EFL Division 1 games played at the grounds.
Lilydale Football Club is believed to be the second oldest active football club in Australia, having formed in 1872 and has cemented its reputation into the greater football community.
Unlike Daniel Andrews who has decided to give a massive $225 million of taxpayers’ money to the AFL to upgrade Etihad Stadium, the Liberals are getting behind cash-strapped local sporting clubs who desperately need our support.
Comments attributable to Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party, David Hodgett:
“Bridget Vallence has been doing extensive work in the local community to support the growth at Lilydale Football Club and has advocated strongly for this funding.
“The Liberal Nationals won’t hand over millions of dollars to the AFL to spend on Etihad Stadium. Our goal will be to prioritise funding to our suburban and country sports clubs.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Evelyn, Bridget Vallence:
“I am delighted that Matthew Guy and his team have made this exciting contribution to such an iconic and active sporting club.
“If I am elected to represent Evelyn, I’ll ensure our hardworking community groups and sporting clubs get the funding they require.”
