The Liberal Nationals are committed to helping those in the community on the Autism Spectrum.
Spectrum Journeys is a Lilydale-based not-for-profit organisation that aims to equip and empower families, early childhood educators, teachers and professionals as they support children on the Autism Spectrum.
A Matthew Guy-led government will provide a grant of $45,000 to assist Spectrum Journeys to help support children with autism. The grant will assist Spectrum Journeys to provide:
- Practical support programs for fathers of children with Autism.
- Practical support programs for parents to be their child’s best advocate.
- Coordination of nearly 50 volunteers that support operations at the Lilydale Hub and numerous community engagements.
Comments attributable to Shadow Assistant Minister for Autism Spectrum Disorder, Bernie Finn:
“Bridget Vallence has been working closely with Spectrum Journeys to support our kids in the community with autism and has advocated strongly for this funding.
“Spectrum Journeys are doing ground breaking work not only in Lilydale but around the whole of Victoria, helping children with autism and those who care for them.
“Only the Liberals will provide funding to Spectrum Journeys to support their important work.”
Comments attributable to Liberal Candidate for Evelyn, Bridget Vallence:
“Spectrum Journeys is crucially located in the outer-east where access to reliable services for children with autism is limited.
“I’ve been meeting with the Director of Spectrum Journeys and many of the volunteers and I can see the passion and dedication this group has to its mission in helping to equip families and educators who work with children on the Autism Spectrum.”
“If I am elected to represent Evelyn, I’ll continually fight for our hardworking community organisations and will continue to deliver for them.”
